Yesterday, our air conditioning did this cute thing where it decided not to work. So after a day of frying in the muggy August heat, dinner is about to be something simple. Lunch consisted of a fresh salad with feta, pecans and grilled peaches, and I’m thinking an open faced sandwich will calm the dinnertime hangry-ness. I’ve raved about ezrapoundcake.com before, but I’m especially thankful for it today!

Of course, dessert is a nonnegotiable. I’m feeling like watermelon sorbet – two words made for each other. Southern Living has a gorgeous display and a simple recipe although it’s a little heavy on the sugar. I might use a natural sweetener instead.
