This is how we roll

Occasionally, I’ll get so hungry that I really don’t care what my food looks like – I want to throw it on a plate asap and inhale it before I stop functioning. (Please tell me I’m not alone in this…)

80% of the time though, I appreciate thoughtful presentation. Growing up, garnishes were a staple. My favourite to-date? A deliriously yummy lemon-grass syrup my mum pours over fruit salad. I think a good garnish relieves a whole lot of pressure actually. You may be a sub-par cook, but if you can serve food with style, I will definitely ask for seconds.

So I figured why not dedicate today’s meatless Monday post to the sushi sensation? Not only is sushi delicious and healthy, it just looks good.

This Food Network tutorial gives you the low-down on how to make sushi at home. If you’ve never tried sushi, I’d suggest exploring your community for a popular place to check it out. That way you don’t end up knee deep in sushi prep without knowing what you’re in for. And while you’re at it, see if there’s an Asian market anywhere near you. These are tons of fun to shop because you find the most bizarre products as well as essential sushi ingredients!

Maybe your Monday is a little hectic and you don’t have the time to make your own sushi – it’s okay, I won’t tell. Take out places have some great presentation too – order away and make it a sushi Monday.

Aaand for dessert:
